Dear friends,
Nowadays, the topics regarding "SLUT WALK" and campaigns regarding them are being widespread almost each and every part of the world. After reading the entire story regarding Umang Sabarwal who started campaign named "Slutwalk Delhi" i thought for a moment to write my views regarding this slut walk campaign. In my opinion, it was a good start to begin these type of campaigns protesting something else when the things are really going worse. I agree with the people who are quite against the people who are comparing innocent girls with sluts. But for a while, its a shattering experience. Previously, in many news articles we have already read and heard about protests regarding eveteasings and raggings etc., in colleges as well as in public. Nowadays, in the same way , most of the girls and women are trying to deject themselves by showing their unhappiness towards society as well as people who are comparing them with sluts.
But i need to say in this particular time, does people really change their mindset and dehumanized behavior after getting protested by these type of campaigns. These campaigns started from many colleges as well as from social networking sites. The campaigns said the comments made by the people are rather offensive and degrading women where they are even getting criticized by public and compared with sluts when they wear westernized dresses, skirts and high heels in public.
Today, most of the Indian youth are following cosmopolitan cultures and are getting highly influenced by cosmopolitan atmospheres. So, its something like tasting new culture and moreover some part of the youth are also getting addicted to the western culture. If wearing western dresses and getting flirted in public is the concept if we can say is migrated from other countries. Hence, lots of unethical concepts and themes are also been and already being migrated from other western countires and trying their level best to be part of our culture. Off course, this culture is also demanding flirting girls and dating with them in many areas in uncivilized manner. In these circumstances, does these campaigns really work. I need to say nowadays culture is getting ruined and some of the people are also getting ruined effective with that type of culture.
That's the same thing happening in our society from decades. And its nothing worse than the situations arise when girls are treated in the society like showcase dolls and getting foisted when they are sold to Arab Shaikhs in areas like Hyderabad for the purpose of flesh trade. However, i can also say it is also not that much worse than the situation that occur when innocent girls being raped in tribal areas by government officials itself.
Then, whats the exact point of these campaigns. Yes, girls should have liberal thoughts. They can follow cosmopolitan cultures. They can even wear what they want and they also need to be respected by the people in the society wherever they go and what ever they do.
Is this the exact point of view? And if it is the exact point then we we also need to think for a moment about social ethics and civic sense? Do we think we still have these things in society. Some people (both boys as well as girls) behave in such a way in public that they can cross all limits and ethics. Now, in these type of situations people are in dilemma. Whom we need to support? To the society which was affected or to the society which was going to be affected ?
However, I support these campaigns which are protesting something which is against social ethics. But, at the same time i also want to suggest the people not to support any mindset which can ruin society, culture or civic sense.
I SUPPORT SLUT WALK CAMPAIGNS...BUT LETS ALSO SAVE SOCIAL ETHICS...
